Symphony No. 3 / "Prometheus"

Album by Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin & Evgeny Fyodorovich Svetlanov & Sviatoslav Richter

Symphony No. 3 and Prometheus are orchestral works by A. Skriabin, composed in 1904 and 1910 respectively. Both pieces bridge late-Romantic orchestration and Scriabin's later mystic, colour-focused idiom, characterised by lush chromatic harmonies, an expanded tonal palette and dense, luminous orchestral textures, with Prometheus explicitly exploring synaesthetic use of colour and sonority within his compositional language.
