Die Fledermaus
Album by Johann Strauss & Joan Sutherland & Richard Bonynge
Die Fledermaus is an operetta by Austrian composer Johann Strauss II, premiered in 1874. The operetta is built on waltz-derived orchestration and light comic vocal writing with dance rhythms typical of late 19th-century Viennese theatre, and it follows Strauss's shift from dance composition to stage works and had an impact on the development of the operetta genre.

First released: 1996
