Pathétique is the sixth symphony by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, completed and premiered in 1893. The work features expansive Romantic orchestration, sweeping lyrical melodies and an atypical formal trajectory that concludes with a slow, sombre finale, representing a culmination of Tchaikovsky's late symphonic style and occupying a distinctive place in the late Romantic orchestral repertoire.
