Symphony no. 9
Album by Anton Bruckner & Otto Klemperer & Philharmonia Orchestra
Symphony No. 9 is the final symphony by Austrian composer Anton Bruckner, begun in the 1890s and left unfinished at his death in 1896. The work exemplifies late-Romantic orchestration with expansive string lyricism, prominent brass chorales and dense contrapuntal textures, and its incomplete finale has left a notable gap in Bruckner's symphonic output that continues to inform scholarship and performance practice.
