Symphony no. 7

Album by Gustav Mahler & Vladimir Ashkenazy & Česká filharmonie

Symphony No. 7 is the seventh symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1905. The work is a late-Romantic symphony characterised by stark contrasts between nocturnal and exuberant passages, a broad orchestral palette and unconventional formal juxtapositions, and it occupies a transitional position in Mahler's output as he moved towards greater ambivalence and modernist tendencies.
