Manon Lescaut is the third opera by Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, premiered in 1893. Its score blends late-Romantic lyricism with verismo-influenced drama, characterised by expansive orchestration, prominent solo vocal writing and intense emotional contrasts, and it marked a decisive step in Puccini's development that informed his later operas.
