Opera Transcriptions
Album by Franz Liszt & Jean‐Yves Thibaudet
Opera Transcriptions is a collection of piano transcriptions by Franz Liszt, composed across the mid-19th century (primarily the 1830s–1860s). These highly virtuosic arrangements translate operatic melodies and orchestral textures into elaborate solo-piano works that pushed the instrument's technical and expressive boundaries and helped to establish Liszt's role in popularising and reworking operatic repertoire for the piano.
