Black Codes (From the Underground) is a studio album by American jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, released in 1985. The music is rooted in post-bop and hard bop, with complex arrangements, extended harmonies and tight ensemble playing, and the release came as he moved from early recordings to lead a working band in the 1980s jazz scene.
