Messiah is an oratorio by Georg Friedrich Händel, completed in 1741 and first performed in 1742. The work uses choral and orchestral forces in the Baroque style with a mix of solo and ensemble writing, and it was composed late in Händel's career and later entered standard choral repertoire.
