Messiah is an oratorio by George Frideric Handel, first performed in Dublin in 1742. The work blends choral and solo vocal writing with Baroque orchestral accompaniment, employing recitative, aria and large-scale choruses, and it occupies a central place in Handel's output of English oratorios and in the choral repertoire.
