The Prussian Quartets

Album by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart & Chiaroscuro Quartet

The Prussian Quartets is a set of three string quartets by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed in 1789 and 1790 and published in 1790. They are written in the Classical chamber music style, are characterised by prominent cello lines and transparent harmonic textures, and come from Mozart's late Vienna years when he composed for the King of Prussia, an amateur cellist.
