Cello Sonatas
Album by Johannes Brahms & Tilmann Wick & Pascal Devoyon
Cello Sonatas are a pair of cello sonatas by Johannes Brahms, composed in 1865 and 1886. Rooted in the Romantic tradition, they pair long-breathed, song-like cello lines with substantial, pianistic textures, rich chromatic harmony and contrapuntal complexity, and they occupy an important place in Brahms's chamber-music output as works that bridge his early and mature compositional phases.
