The Kingdom

Album by Edward Elgar & Hallé Orchestra & Sir Mark Elder

The Kingdom is an oratorio by English composer Sir Edward Elgar, completed and first performed in 1906. Scored for chorus, soloists and orchestra in a late-Romantic idiom, it continues Elgar's exploration of large-scale sacred narrative and features sweeping orchestration, rich harmonic language and dramatic vocal writing that place it within his mature choral output.
