Symphonies 4 & 5
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Chicago Symphony Orchestra & Sir Georg Solti
Symphony No. 4 and Symphony No. 5 are orchestral symphonies by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1806 and 1808 respectively. The Fourth presents Classical poise with transparent orchestration and balanced proportions, whereas the Fifth is built from a compact motivic cell that drives a dramatic, cumulative trajectory and exemplifies Beethoven's move from Classical models towards a more extended, Romantic orchestral language.
