Pastoral Symphony

Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Berliner Philharmoniker & André Cluytens

The Pastoral Symphony (Symphony No. 6 in F major, Op. 68) is a symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, first performed in 1808. It exemplifies programme music at the turn of the Classical to Romantic era, featuring five movements that evoke rural scenes through descriptive orchestration, flowing melodies and folk-like motifs, and it reflects Beethoven's growing interest in narrative and extra-musical association during his middle period.
