Don Carlos is an opera by Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi, premiered in 1867. The work is a grand Romantic-era opera characterised by expansive orchestration, large-scale choral and solo writing and a focus on political and personal conflict, marking a late-1860s stage in Verdi's move towards more complex dramatic structures.
