Drama of Exile is Nico’s fifth studio album, released in 1981, adopting a post-punk and new wave-influenced rock sound with Middle Eastern elements and full-band arrangements rather than her earlier harmonium-led approach. It has a complicated release history, existing in two distinct versions after legal disputes led to a later re-recording under the same title.
