The Symphonies are the four symphonies by German composer Johannes Brahms, composed and premiered between 1876 and 1885. They exemplify Brahms's late-Romantic symphonic writing, fusing classical structures and rigorous thematic development with rich orchestration, and they represent the culmination of his orchestral output and a central element of the symphonic repertoire.
