Symphony no. 2

Album by Jean Sibelius & Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & Sir John Barbirolli

Symphony No. 2 is the second symphony by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, composed in 1902. The four-movement work draws on late-Romantic orchestral language with expansive melodies, prominent brass and string writing, and strong contrasts of mood, and it marks a consolidation of Sibelius's mature symphonic style within his career.
First released: 1976
