The Manfred Symphony is a programmatic symphony by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, completed in 1885. A late-Romantic, programme-orientated work scored for a large orchestra, it combines dramatic narrative-driven passages, expansive lyrical themes and rich, often sombre orchestration, and occupies a distinctive place in Tchaikovsky's later output as an example of his large-scale symphonic writing.
