The Messiah

The Messiah is an English-language oratorio by George Frideric Handel, completed in 1742 and first performed in Dublin that year. Scored for soloists, chorus and orchestra, it combines Baroque recitative, aria and large choral movements with orchestral accompaniment and occupies a central place in Handel's output and in the development of the English oratorio tradition.
