Symphony No. 9 is the ninth symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed and first performed in 1824. The work is a large Romantic-era symphony that includes vocal soloists and a choir in its finale and was among the last major works of Beethoven's career; it expanded the scope of symphonic form and orchestration.
