Carnaval
Album by Robert Schumann & Maurizio Baglini
Carnaval, Op. 9, is a cycle of piano pieces by Robert Schumann, composed in 1834–1835. The work consists of a sequence of short character pieces in the early Romantic style that evoke masked revelry and literary personae through abrupt contrasts, rhythmic invention and melodic cryptograms, and it represents a pivotal moment in Schumann's development of programme piano repertoire and cyclical structure.
