Scheherazade

Album by Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky‐Korsakov & The Philadelphia Orchestra & Eugene Ormandy

Scheherazade is a symphonic suite by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, composed in 1888. Drawing on orientalist narrative material and vivid instrumental colour, the work showcases Rimsky-Korsakov's mature orchestral technique and imaginative use of solo instruments within the orchestra, and it occupies an important place in the late Romantic orchestral repertoire.
