Symphony no. 6
Album by Gustav Mahler & MusicAeterna & Teodor Currentzis
Symphony No. 6 is the sixth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1904. The large-scale late-Romantic symphony is characterised by dramatic contrasts, dense and colourful orchestration, relentless rhythmic drive and emphatic percussive gestures, reflecting Mahler's intensification of orchestral expression and formal experimentation during his middle period and contributing to the evolution of symphonic writing at the turn of the 20th century.
