Le Roi David is a stage cantata (oratorio) by Swiss composer Arthur Honegger, composed in 1921. The work combines choral, solo vocal and orchestral forces with modal melodies, rhythmic vitality and colourful orchestration that bridge late-Romantic and early modernist idioms, and it stands as an early large-scale theatrical composition that helped establish Honegger's reputation in the early 1920s.
