Symphony no. 10
Album by Dmitri Dmitrievich Shostakovich & London Philharmonic Orchestra & Sir Andrew Davis
Symphony No. 10 is the tenth symphony by Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich, completed in 1953. The four-movement orchestral work juxtaposes march-like rhythms, brooding slow passages and intense orchestral climaxes, and was written in the immediate aftermath of Stalin's death, placing it at a turning point in Shostakovich's post-1953 compositional trajectory.
