Die Schöpfung is an oratorio by Austrian composer Joseph Haydn, completed and first performed in 1798. The work exemplifies Classical-period oratorio through its large-scale choral and orchestral forces, vivid orchestration and prominent solo writing, and it is one of Haydn's major late works that contributed to the genre's development.
