Symphony No. 1 is the first symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1888. Stylistically late-Romantic and orchestral, it uses a large orchestra, folk-influenced motifs and programme-like contrasts, and foreshadows compositional approaches Mahler expanded in his later symphonies.
