Symphony no. 5
Album by Gustav Mahler & WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln & Jukka‐Pekka Saraste
Symphony No. 5 is a symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, composed in 1901-1902 and premiered in 1904. The five-movement work moves from a sombre funeral march through expansive, song-like adagios to exuberant, brass-driven finales and reflects Mahler's shift from song-influenced symphonic material toward more tightly integrated orchestral architecture, occupying a central place in his middle-period output.
