The Nutcracker: The Complete Ballet
Album by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky & Sir Andrew Davis & Toronto Symphony Orchestra
The Nutcracker is a full-length ballet score by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, composed in 1892. Scored for a large Romantic orchestra, it features colourful orchestration with waltzes, polkas and other dance forms that alternate delicate solo passages and sweeping ensemble textures, and it occupies a central place in Tchaikovsky's late output and in the development of ballet music.
