Girlfriend is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Matthew Sweet, released in 1991. The album adopts a power pop and alternative rock sound characterised by chiming guitars, layered vocal harmonies and tight songcraft, and it marked a turning point in Sweet's career that helped revitalise interest in melodic power pop in the early 1990s.
