Symphony No. 5 and the Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture are orchestral works by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, composed respectively in 1888 and in 1869 with later revisions completed around 1880. Both pieces exemplify Tchaikovsky's Romantic-era orchestral language, featuring expansive melodies, vivid orchestration, dramatic climaxes and programme-driven thematic material that situate them prominently in his late 19th-century output.
