Saul
Album by George Frideric Handel & Concentus Musicus Wien & Nikolaus Harnoncourt
Saul is an oratorio by Georg Friedrich Händel, first performed in 1739. The work blends operatic vocal writing, expansive choral passages and colourful orchestration to portray its biblical drama and marks a mature phase in Händel's English oratorio output with increased emphasis on dramatic characterisation and large-scale choral forces.
