Pathétique is the sixth symphony by Russian composer Пётр Ильич Чайковский, completed and premiered in 1893. A late-Romantic orchestral work and the composer's final completed symphony, it is characterised by broad lyrical themes, rich orchestration and a turbulent emotional arc that concludes in a sombre, slow final movement and reflects an unconventional formal approach within late 19th-century symphonic practice.
