The Creation

Album by Joseph Haydn & Academy of Ancient Music & Christopher Hogwood

The Creation is an oratorio by Austrian composer Joseph Haydn, first performed in 1798. Written in the Classical style, it combines expansive choral forces, solo vocal writing and illustrative orchestral tone-painting, and it occupies an important place among Haydn's late works and in the development of the oratorio repertoire in the late 18th century.
