Le maschere is an opera by Italian composer Pietro Mascagni, premiered in 1901. The work combines late-Romantic Italian operatic idioms with commedia dell'arte influences, featuring lyrical vocal lines, rich orchestration and ensemble writing, and it occupies a distinctive place in Mascagni's output as a large-scale stage work from the turn of the 20th century following his early association with the verismo movement.
