The Nutcracker Suite
Album by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
The Nutcracker Suite is a suite of orchestral excerpts from the ballet The Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, composed in 1892. The suite presents a sequence of dance-inspired orchestral movements in the Romantic style, characterised by vivid orchestration, distinctive instrumental colours and clear ballet rhythms, and it occupies a notable place in Tchaikovsky's late-career output and in the concert repertoire derived from ballet music.
