The Nutcracker Suite is an orchestral suite by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (Пётр Ильич Чайковский), arranged and published in 1892. It extracts a selection of dances and instrumental numbers from the full-length ballet into a shorter concert suite, exemplifying late-Romantic orchestration, lyrical melodies and colourful orchestral textures and occupying a prominent place in the orchestral repertoire.
