Bilder einer Ausstellung is a piano suite by Russian composer Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky, composed in 1874. The work is arranged as a sequence of pictorial movements linked by a recurring promenade idea and is characterised by bold modal harmonies, abrupt dynamic contrasts and vivid folkloric melodic writing, making it a prominent example of late Romantic Russian piano music that later attracted numerous orchestral arrangements and adaptations.
