Symphony No. 1 is the first symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, composed in 1888. It combines late-Romantic orchestration with folk-influenced motifs and expansive structures, reflecting Mahler's evolving interest in large-scale, programme-oriented symphonic writing and occupying an early, significant position in his compositional development.
