Requiems
Album by Gabriel Fauré & Maurice Duruflé & Cambridge Choir of King’s College & Stephen Cleobury
Requiem in D minor, Op. 48, is a choral composition by French composer Gabriel Fauré, completed in 1890. The work is characterised by a restrained, consolatory approach to the requiem mass, with lyrical vocal writing, modal harmonies and subtle orchestration, and it occupies a distinctive place in Fauré's oeuvre as a move towards intimate, serene expression within late 19th-century French sacred music.
