Scheherazade

Album by Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky‐Korsakov & Sergiu Celibidache & Münchner Philharmoniker

Scheherazade is a symphonic suite by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, composed in 1888. Scored for large orchestra and inspired by stories from One Thousand and One Nights, it uses colourful orchestration, prominent violin solos and rich chromatic harmonies that reflect Rimsky-Korsakov's emphasis on orchestral colour and situate the work within the late Romantic Russian symphonic tradition.
First released: 2004
