Symphony No. 9 is the ninth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1909. A late-Romantic orchestral work scored for large orchestra, it combines expansive, often slow-moving textures with abrupt contrasts and complex harmonic shifts, closing Mahler's sequence of symphonies and pointing towards developments in twentieth-century music.
