Stabat Mater

Album by Antonín Dvořák & Slovenský filharmonický zbor & Slovenská filharmónia & Zdeněk Košler

Stabat Mater is a sacred choral composition by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, completed in 1877 and revised in 1879–80. The large-scale work for soloists, choir and orchestra employs Romantic harmonic language, rich orchestration and contrasts between intimate solo passages and full choral textures to set the traditional Latin text, exemplifying Dvořák's mature approach to sacred music and reflecting his late-Romantic style within the choral repertoire.
