String Quartets nos. 5 & 6
Album by Felix Mendelssohn & Cherubini‐Quartett
String Quartets nos. 5 & 6 are two chamber music compositions by German composer Felix Mendelssohn, completed in 1838 and 1847 respectively. They combine classical formal structures with early Romantic lyricism—transparent textures, contrapuntal clarity and contrasting moods—with the fifth reflecting Mendelssohn's mature chamber writing of the 1830s and the sixth occupying a darker, late position in his output.
