Symphony no. 6
Album by Gustav Mahler & Budapest Festival Orchestra & Iván Fischer
Symphony No. 6 is the sixth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, composed in 1903–1904 and first performed in 1906. A late-Romantic orchestral work, it is scored for a large orchestra and characterised by dramatic contrasts, turbulent climaxes and a sombre, tragic trajectory that marks a darker, more fatalistic turn in Mahler's symphonic writing.
