Symphony No. 11 is the eleventh symphony by Soviet composer Dmitri Shostakovich, composed in 1957. A programme symphony commemorating the events of 1905, it uses a large orchestra with brass-dominated declamations, sombre string textures and vivid orchestral colour to evoke scenes of uprising and lament, and forms part of Shostakovich's late-middle-period works that address historical and political themes.
