Die schöne Müllerin is a song cycle by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, composed in 1823. The cycle is a set of Romantic lieder for solo voice and piano that uses folk-like melodies and expressive piano writing to portray a young miller's emotional arc, and it was one of Schubert's early major song cycles that helped shape the development of the German lied.
