Also sprach Zarathustra is a tone poem by German composer Richard Strauss, composed and premiered in 1896. The work is a large-scale orchestral tone poem drawing on philosophical themes, characterised by bold orchestration, prominent brass and organ passages and harmonic adventurousness, and it occupies a key position in Strauss's development into a leading late-Romantic symphonic poet.
